Richard Schubert (1901-1956)

... founded Edition Eres in 1946. He used the first initials of his name as the company name: R.S., pronounced "air-es".

His first published materials could be stacked in a small cupboard. The publishing company expanded quickly. Soon Richard Schubert bought an old railway carriage and set it up in the municipal park of Emden. Apart from self-published music scores, he sold musical instruments which he had brought over the „green border“ from Markneukirchen.

In 1947 Eres relocated to Bremen. After the death of the founder, his son Horst Schubert further developed the repertoire of the publishing company in various directions. Since 1988 he and Timo Schubert, a representative of the third generation, update and maintain the ...


Publisher´s catalogue

CHOIR MUSIC forms the essential basis of the publisher’s repertoire. The Eres catalogue is a treasure chest in the range of international folklore – i.e. „world music“– in particular. Vocalists and musicians appreciate the way in which the Eres authors highlight the respective atmosphere of songs and dances from the most diverse regions. „Original Originals“ are an Eres specialty that is readily demanded again and again because of the entertainment value. MUSIC EDUCATION makes heavy demands on a music publisher. Therefore Eres encourages its authors to take up the actual challenges of the educational theory without bowing to the fleeting fashion trends at the same time. MUSIC THERAPY is an area to which Eres Edition has attended with the greatest sense of responsibility since 1975. INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC for single instruments and chamber music orchestrations – right up to symphonic music – is another Eres area of operation. Many works of Estonian composers in particular owe their current popularity to our work (see: „Estonia Edition“ – organised according to composer in a separate column, and organised according to instruments on the „Instrumental music“ level”). Eres draws similar great interest with works by Lithuanian writers since the year 2000.

COMPACT DISCS are the „underpinning measures“ in the Eres range, because CDs and other sound carriers facilitate access to new music.
